My background lies within geography, geo-informatics, remote sensing, photogrammetry, computer vision, and machine learning. My experiences include capturing remote sensing data with drones and laser scanners, developing geo-spatial algorithms, and tailoring image analysis and machine learning. In my PhD research, I have developed an open source mapping software that simplifies the digitization of land rights in developing countries. Engaging with the open source community has made me realize the value of openly communicating and sharing insights to further develop.
As a PhD researcher in an international research & innovation EU project, I have published journal and conference papers that have been cited >100 times. Speaking about my knowledge during academic publishing workshops, has been an enriching experience. From presenting my work on state of the art technology at international conferences across Europe and Africa, I developed the ability to communicate technical expertise in a clear and engaging way.
I have lived and worked in Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United States, and I am able to speak German, English, Dutch and French fluently. From studying across Europe, I gained insights into different academia systems and their varying approaches to science and education.
I am looking forward to share my expertise and enthusiasm about digital technology, academia, and public speaking.
